mentor (n) - a trusted counselor; an influential senior sponsor or supporter.

Unified for UNIFAT currently employs four Acholi mentors that are each responsible for 30 children in our sponsorship program.  Some of these children attend UNIFAT School, which others are graduates of UNIFAT and are continuing to be mentored in secondary schools within Gulu District.  Mentoring the children is a full time job which includes the responsibilities of conducting home visits, holding meetings with the students’ teachers, tutoring the children, and ensuring their well-being both at home and at school. The mentors serve as surrogate parents to the children. Each mentor forms a personal bond with their children and is there to help them with whatever they need, both academically and socially.
